Dr. Valentin Roschacher, born in 1960 in Zurich/Switzerland, began his professional career as a lawyer. In 1999 - at the age of only 39 - he was elected Attorney General of Switzerland. In 2006, he decided to turn his hobby into a profession and dedicate his life entirely to painting, with the goal of becoming the best and most famous mountain painter of the 21st century. He is the inventor of the so-called "single hair brush technique", i.e. the only artist in the world who works with brushes that have only 1, 2, 3 or 4 hairs. This extraordinarily time-consuming painting technique enables the artist to reproduce the many color harmonies of the glaciers, snow and rock surfaces on the canvas in the smallest possible space, and - even more - it allows Valentin Roschacher to apply extremely thin lines to the canvas that are nevertheless impasto and convey a three-dimensional impression. Depending on the size of the canvas, the artist invests weeks, months or even years (500 to 6500 working hours) in a single painting. Valentin Roschacher is an internationally known artist with exhibitions in Switzerland and abroad. He lives and works in Herrliberg on Lake Zurich.
